Big praise for McLean Mill after a city budget meeting last night.
Society Board Chair Bill Collette submitted separate requests for operations, insurance and a capital fund totaling $356,000 which is down from previous years.
Mayor Mike Ruttan said the society is sticking to their 5-year plan and council is encouraged by what they see.
Ruttan said the plan to get the big locomotive back on the track, and have the sawmill running again is dependent on government grants.
If they’re able to get the steam mill running it will be for scheduled demonstrations only, and will not produce much lumber as it has done in the past.
Ruttan said he’s hearing many more positive comments about the mill than ever before.
