A former city supervisor was given an absolute discharge after pleading guilty to stealing from the multiplex.
Steve Bilodeau told the court he was “deeply sorry” for taking $2070 from the multiplex safe when he was the supervisor there in September 2016.
Judge Ronald Webb said the work Bilodeau has done with a counselor, and the 25 letters of support from friends, family and former employers showed the theft was clearly out-of-character.
The judge believed the 51-year olds testimony that he planned to give the money back, and in fact did repay the money out of his final paycheque from the city.
Webb did require Bilodeau to pay a $500 victim fine surcharge though – five times the normal amount.
