City Council has launched budget discussions as they head into the final year of their mandate.
Budget debates will start earlier this year, even though there’s not much to discuss.
Mayor Mike Ruttan said with city managers holding to the maximum 1% departmental budget increases there’s not much money left over for discretionary spending.
Ruttan said with it being the final year of council’s term, they already have their priority projects in place.
He’s hoping the federal government will come through with a $12 million grant for infrastructure that the city has applied for.
