School’s back from summer break on Tuesday, and school district superintendent Greg Smyth says they expect similar student enrollment numbers as last year.
Smyth says they expect to have around 3,750 students in SD70 schools, and the number of teachers will remain stable as well.
But Alberni District Teachers Union president Ken Zydyk says with the restoration of class size limits, the school district should have hired 15-20 teachers over the summer
Zydyk is also concerned about cuts to learning assistance and special education programs, and will be working with teachers to bring their concerns to the district.
