Courtenay – Alberni MP Gord Johns is preparing to Ride the Riding later this month.
The 12 day ride will take him to 7 cities and towns, 4 regional districts and 10 First Nations in the constituency, and he plans to host town hall sessions and more informal meetings about local issues in a variety of venues
Johns, who has become well-known in Ottawa for bicycling to work every day, is also using the event to push for a National Cycling Strategy.
He has filed a private member’s bill to help accomplish that, and said Port Alberni was one of the first cities to support it.
Johns will be talking more about his proposed Bill during his trip that starts in Hot Springs Cove on August 21st and ends in Courtenay on September 2nd.
