West Coast Aquatic continues to chase a $15 million grant for salmon enhancement from the Federal Government.
Yesterday, they were able to press their request upon the Parlaimentary Secretary to the Minister of Fisheries Terry Beech.
He said there is money available for projects that make sense.
Beech said there is $1.5 billion in the Ocean Protections Plan, along with $75 million Coastal Restoration Fund, which shows the Federal Government is concerned about fisheries
Brought here at the urging of local MP Gord Johns, who said the aquatic management board is a model organization made up of all stakeholder groups who care about the health of local fish stocks.
John challenged government members to come to Port Alberni to see the issues being faced here, and the need for greater federal support.
