After two years of talks, the city is moving ahead on a kitchen and yard waste collection service
City Staff were told to order two new garbage trucks with the ability to keep compost separated from garbage
Two local businesses had proposed taking on the service, but concerns over unionized city staff complaints led council to keep the project to themselves.
The city had hoped that the regional district would take the lead on kitchen and yard waste collection, but with current garbage trucks in need of replacement, council decided to move ahead alone, and are looking to implement the program in September 2018.
