The Port Alberni RCMP has put a significant number of local gang members in jail.
The gang, called the Wolf Pack, is known for using violence to force debt repayment or exact street vengance.
There are upwards of ten associates of the group in jail now, awaiting trial for a variety of violence-related charges.
RCMP spokesperson Corporal Amelia Hayden says the group is intertwined with the local drug subculture, and there is no risk to the general public.
She said all members of the local group are known to police, and are usually in and out of jail.
She said the local group has no attachment to another gang called the wolfpack that operates in the lower mainland.
