School District trustees have given their permission for a group of ADSS students to travel to Italy during Spring Break 2019
The SD70 decision is very different from the position taken by neighbouring School District 68, who has banned international travel for 2 years, after a group of Nanaimo students were in the vicinity of a terrorist attack in Nice France last July.
Local Board Chair Pam Craig says the school and the travel company all do their homework to make sure students stay safe.
Craig said the board is also in close contact with Government of Canada resources to ensure there are no travel advisories in the area where students could be going.
